March 2010: Gizmomop!

The Learning Curve’s 2010 March Activities will be running throughout the month. Each month, we'll be featuring an orb in CurveWorld. Complete any activity, and earn coins in CurveWorld, as well as post your work in the gallery for other kids to see!

Laptop Checkout!
The Learning Curve is circulating laptops from 4 to 7p.m., Monday through Wednesday, to kids' aged 6 to 14. Don't worry, if you don't have a library card, you can still join the ongoing CurveWorld & Open Lab session in the Vortex.

Extended CurveWorld & Open Lab hours!
Because of Laptop Checkout, CurveWorld & Open Lab are extended till 7p.m., Monday through Wednesday!

Bilingual Storytime - Saturday, March 14th @ 2pm in the Theater
Families are invited to join an interactive bilingual storytime celebrating the languages and cultures of the world. March's featured language is Pomo American Indian. Check out the Bilingual Storytime podcast, online now at http://curve.imcpl.org!

Asia Fantasia: Storytelling, Music, and Fun - Sunday, March 14th @ 2pm in the Theater
Myths and folktales of Asia come alive as Robert Kikuchi-Yngojo of the acclaimed storytelling theatre company Eth-Noh-Tec weaves lively lore into a journey of listening delight.

Madcap Puppets: Tales of the Silk Road - Saturday, March 27th @ 11:30am & 2:30pm in the Clowes Auditorium
Join the adventure & travel to China with Madcap Puppets during two 45-minute performances in the Clowes Auditorium.

Father Goose - Wednesday, March 31st @ 2pm in the Theater
Paul Odenwelder brings his voice, humor, antics, and lots of audience participation to this musical show as Father Goose, while singing the songs and telling the tales of the Mother Goose Rhymes & Stories.

Oh No! - Group Coves
Create a comical blooper stop-action animation film with the master of misstep himself, Mr. Bill. All-ages & Family Groups.

Snap, Crack, Zap - Arena
Who created the X-ray? Uncover the secrets behind the accidental discovery of a modern-day machine. Ages 6-18.

Splotches and Splashes - Tech Lab
Smear your KidPix t-shirt with ketchup, soup, or your favorite veggies. It will all come out in the wash. Ages 6-18.

Watch Out! - Arena
More animation mayhem ensues using Pivot Stickfigure Animator. Ages 6-18.

Call-A-Pacer Tip-Off - Sunday, February 28th from 3pm to 4pm in the Theater
Join members of the Indiana Pacers, Indiana Pacemates, Pacers All-Star Reading Team, and Boomer as we tip-off the 2010 Call-a-Pacer season. Use your head (and ImageBlender software) to design a football helmet for your favorite team, real or fantasy. Ages 6-18.

First Pitch - Arena
Create your own baseball pitch animation! Will it be a swing and a miss? Or a home run? Ages 6-18.

Playground Action Figures - Group Coves
The thrills, the spills, the fun: You direct the action on a miniature playground and produce a short animated film. All-ages/Family Groups.

Tug O' War - Theater
This tug-of-war activity pulls you into Olympic history. Explore the topic and earn CurveWorld coins. Ages 6-18.

Wild Slide - Vortex
Use your wildest slide design to create an animation of Pivot Stickfigures that slip, slither, and slide. Ages 6-18.
